I usually don’t take part in any of the chain-messages, whether they threaten with accidents, terrible things happening – even death if I don’t forward the message, or promise many blessings and good fortune. However I thought I would make an exception this one time, as it’s almost like a mini blog tour without having to find blogs to tour… So if you haven’t guessed yet I’ve been tagged in the “Next Big Thing” making the rounds on the Internet recently.
What is the title of your book?
“A Dragon’s Path to Ascension”
How did you come by the idea?
I was discussing some details related to the “Dragons Reborn” novels with one of the co-authors of the world my fantasy stories are set in, and was trying to explain what happens when two mature Toivoans meet. The bet between Tharia and Kaima was a great way to illustrate this. This is where the original story title “An Honest Bet” came from. But as the one-scene story developed into a longer short story the focus, and the title changed slightly.
What genre does your book fall under?
Which actors would you choose to play your characters if it were a movie?
Tharia is a shy, next-door type of girl, who just wants peace and quiet, and maybe to do some knitting (drives my action packed reader sister crazy…). So I think Thora Birch would fit nicely here.
Zooey Deschanel could play Kaima – innocent looking, but with a smile that says there is something more to her than meets the eye.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Tharia has to make a decision all young Toivoan Dragons face – remain a lonely hermit, never able to start her own family and exiled from her homeland or kill her own kind in order to Ascend and reach her full potential.
Will your book be self-published or traditional?
Self-published – read more details.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I didn’t track the time, but it was about two to three weeks. Then over a month of rewriting, professional editing and preparing for publication.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
As I mentioned earlier it was initially intended as some world lore example for my friend Michał Rolewski. It was also a nice excuse to jump a bit into the future of the world – the story is very much a hint at what is about to come after the six core novels of “Dragons Reborn”.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
You get to know a bit more details about the dragon-human hybrids and how the bond between the girls and their dragonlings works. A bit more is revealed about their powers, though there are still a few more surprises left for the novels…
